Market Day in Kansas City

Dewdrop Soap Company got its start at the very small, very rural farmers’ market in the town nearest me—Odessa, Missouri. I started selling soap mainly to support my addiction to soap-making—and because farmer’s markets are quite a lot of fun. Over several years, I gradually moved to bigger markets and expanded my line of products. My daughters taught me to use an Excel spreadsheet. I fell into the habit of wearing makeup, fixing my hair, and putting on a clean shirt.

One of my original soap-making goals was to develop a soap recipe that would be good for my dry and daughters’ sensitive skin. The recipe I currently use was formulated with that idea in mind. Later I developed an interest in more sophisticated skin-care products. You can find my recipes in my blog entries, many of which explain my choice of ingredients in detail.

But even at farmers’ markets, eventually, people start to ask you if you have a business card—or a website—or something. I invariably offered to write my contact information on a paper bag. Then Covid-19 came along, and the markets were all closed—or closed to crafters—for a considerable period of time. What to do with all that soap?

Obviously, I had quite a bit of time on my hands, so it seemed like it would be a good time to put up a website.

Now I even have business cards!

In May of 2023 Sharon sold her wonderful soap business toNanci.

Nanci is an Esthetician & handmakes all the soap in small batches.

After some medical things going on. I should be back at making soap and have some ready for Valentine’s Day. Just don’t hold me to it.

More exciting news coming soon.
